I've been searching to buy a new lens. I have a Nikon D40… So i know this lens is really old so it can only Manual focus BUT for the price… Is that skeptical? The person selling says its used but its still in a good functioning state. Should i buy it? Or where else would be a good place to look at used lens?

Try KEH.com - if I was buying anything in camera gear sight unseen I would look there first unless it was something extremely hard to find used like a Hasselblad Xpan II (ever heard of them?) or a Leica R9. If the lens is in great shape it might be worth $50 but the 50mm f1.4 is a relatively common lens so I don't know if that is a great price or not - I guess it depends on condition and unless you can inspect it and try it out in person I wouldn't get it unless I could get an iron-clad return policy if there are any problems.

Nope, not skeptical. Older, manual focus lens tend to go for extremely cheap used on ebay.

Go for it, but be aware that the lens won't autofocus, and won't meter with your camera. This means you won't be taking pictures of anything moving around, and the only mode you can use the lens in is "M" mode.

If it's at eBay and that's just the starting price, wait for a few days before you can see it's true worth.

'Skeptical' is a curious word to use there, I would have written 'dubious'. Indeed the lens is old, so you would focus manually and not get any help with exposure judgement, so you would have to take test shots to get the exposure right, or use an external meter. Since it is old it might have been roughly handled or scratched, or it might be in good condition - you have to trust the seller.
