Will taking photos of the sun affect my DSLR? (have pictures)?

I got my Nikon D3100 yesterday and tried taking 3 pictures with the sun in the background. It was around 5 o'clock when I took them. Will it affect my camera? Thanks.
*the first photo is the one I took, and the next 2 are the ones I took after to check if the quality was affected

Nah, shouldn't do that much damage. Just don't do it extensively (as it try to take pictures of the sun itself)

If you were to open your shutter with the sun in the shot and leave it open for an extended period that would do damage, just like the old magnifying glass on a dry leaf. But for standard shots, shutter open and closed quickly, no… No damage.

It will not hurt the camera if you are using the viewfinder. If you are using live view then the shutter is constantly open and it will cook your sensor.

That shot isn't really anything alarming though. Really just light falloff from the sun.

Looking at the sun through the viewfinder will cook your eyeball. The only safe way is to use the live view display.don't keep the camera pointed directly at the sun for longer than required to get the picture then turn away. Having the sun make a silhouette is a common subject and won't damage the camera.

i remember when RCA first invented the CCD and one of the features they touted was its ability to not be damaged by viewing the sun.normal tube type video imagers of the era would be damaged permanently if allowed to see the sun.
