Will a Minolta auto 280px flash work on my Nikon D5100?
Will a Minolta auto 280px flash work on my Nikon D5100?
Added (1). What kind of adapter?
No, not without an adapter.
The Minolta and Sony flash units use a non-standard hot shoe attachment.
The Minolta 280px actually uses the ISO hotshoe adapter so it would fit straight onto your D5100. That's the good news, the bad new is that this flash unit uses a high trigger voltage which would likely blow the electronics in your D5100. If you did get an adapter to use this flash, that adapter would cost more than an equivalent power modern flash, and you are still not going to get any sort of TTL compensation when using this unit.
So while I guess it seems like a good idea, there's so much wrong, it just wouldn't be worth the effort - I calculated to get the adapters to use this on my Sony cameras would come in at £120, that's about $160 I guess. You could get far better modern equipment for far less.
