I have some Film Pentax lens (50mm, and 135mm), and i was wondering if they would work on a Nikon Digital SLR Body? D3100 is the model i was thinking of getting, if it won't work on this, will these lens work on any other Digital SLR body?

The answer is yes, but not the ones you have

IF the Pentax lenses are auto-focus K-mount lenses, you can buy a Pentax dSLR, but frankly, the technological advantage of the Nikon system (especially the new D3200) it makes more since just to start fresh with a Nikon system

Take a look at the lenses that are available for Pentax cameras vs. The Nikon lenses.

If your Pentax lenses are "K" mount, you can buy a Pentax "K" to Nikon "F" adapter. You'll have to use stop-down metering and you'll have to use manual focusing.

If your Pentax lenses are the much older M42 (screw-mount) lenses you can buy an M42 to Nikon "F" adapter. Again you'll have to use stop-down metering and manual focus.

Whether they're manual focus or auto focus isn't relevant when using an adapter.

With very few exceptions any Pentax "K" mount lens can be used on a Pentax DSLR. Even the older manual focus ones will (if memory serves) meter in at least one of the DSLR metering modes but of course will have to be manually focused. If your Pentax lenses are auto focus then they'll auto focus on any current Pentax DSLR.

Yes, its true that Nikon has 78 lenses currently listed in their catalog. Seriously now, how many lenses do you expect to buy in the next 5 years?

Nikon offers 3 Perspective Control (PC-E) lenses ranging in price from $1, 979.95 to $2, 199.95.Is one in your future?

Nikon offers 2 versions of a 200-400mm zoom priced at $6, 299.95 and $6, 999.95.Is one in your future?

Nikon offers 200mm, 300mm, 400mm, 500mm and 600mm prime telephotos priced from a very low $1, 494.95 all the way to $10, 299.95.Is one in your future?

Sure there are working pros who just might have a need for one or more of the lenses I highlighted but when you get down to the actual lenses most people are going to want just about all the major manufacturers have those in their catalog.
