Will a D90 Charger work with a D80 battery?
I lost my Nikon D80's charger, and the D90 charger I found online is much cheaper. Will the D90 charger charge my D80 battery? The D80 battery is 7.4 volts.
Actually you need to use an actual Nikon charger for your cameras battery the MH-18a which happens to be the same charger for the D80, D90, D200, D300, D300s, D700 and a few more.
If you read your user manual, it warns you against using generic batteries and chargers. Make sure that the D90 charger you found on line is a real Nikon charger. They communicate with the battery so that the battery does not overcharge or overheat while charging. Generic chargers can't do that
Since both cameras use EN-EL3e batteries, the D90 charger will work. Beware of cheap chargers. They may cost you more in the long run if they don't properly charge the batteries. The Pearstone charger gets good reviews on B&H's site and is half the price of the official Nikon charger.
Sometimes you can find them cheaper than sears on amazon.
