Will a be able to trade my Nikon D90 for a Canon T2i at a camera shop?

I bought it brand new Christmas of 2010, it now has about 20k shots on it, no scratches or damage that I have been able to find, and it functions perfectly. It has a 18-105mm lens. I was hoping to trade it for either a new or used Canon T2i or T3i. Do you think the shop will take it?

Assuming they also sell 2nd hand gear then almost 100% certain that they will take it in part ex.

Don't expect mega bucks for it though. When they sell it they want to make a profit and cover their costs. You will be lucky to get 150 (pounds or dollars) for it.

You will definitely get better money selling on Ebay.

Different shops, different answers. Just ask.

Sure they'll take it in part exchange at an independent camera shop. My question is what you imagine you'll be gaining by moving over to a Canon t2i, there really is not the jump between the two that would make this worth while. Maybe getting a new lens would be a better step for you.

Definitely you would come out much better selling it on Craigslist or eBay. With Craigslist you need to be aware of how to use it safely and effectively, and with eBay you need to have (or have access to) an eBay account with a good feedback record.

If you are not interested in jumping all the eBay hoops, maybe you have a relative or close friend who could help you or do it for you.

Any particular reason you are not upgrading to either the Nikon D7000 or the Canon 60D, which are both great cameras?
