Why won't my Nikon D70 turn on?

So the last time I was on my Nikon D70, I was switching out the lens for a really nice one my friend let me borrow, it worked like normal and I took many pictures. Later put back on my original lens and put it in my desk. About a week later I took it out and tried to use and and it wouldn't even turn on. So I charged the battery and it was fully charged, when I put it in, the screen didn't even do anything, when I turned it from off to on, it looked the same and wouldn't work AT ALL. Later I looked up how to fix it, and in the manual it said it had a reset button that tiny at the bottom. I pressed it with a a paper clip and held it down and tried it different ways and several times but nothing happened. I have been checking that I put the battery in right that everything is where it should be, but it still won't work! Also this camera is not brand new but its only a couple years old so it should be working just fine. Any ideas or way i can't fix this!

It is hard to say.

You need to take it into a camera repair shop

There's NOTHING a user can do to repair a camera.

I loved my D70 when I had it, and have since passed it on to a beginner so he could get into photography.

But, there are a couple of factors you need to be aware of.

1. The D70 was last made in 2005, so there's no such thing as one that's "only a couple of years old".

2. The EN-EL3 battery, though a workhorse, can and does wear out. There's good chance you need to get a replacement. Don't get a generic as they often don't fit well or have shorter lifespans.

I've always kept several memory cards and several extra batteries on hand. If you can't swap one out, see if you can find someone with a D70, D70s, D80, D200, D300 who can let you try their battery in your camera. You may be able to do the same if you go to a camera shop. The current EN-EL3e battery of the D300 series will work in your D70.

If you want in expensive replacement, D50 and D70 bodies are very cheap on ebay and on Craigslist.

My D70 died for no reason a few years ago. Found out that there's a known issue with some D70s due to one of the internal components that would all of the sudden not turn on.

When you attempt to turn the camera on, the green light would flash for a second and that was it. There was a service advisory a few years ago, but I can no longer find it on the Nikon website.

Nikon fixed my camera for free even though it was outside of the 1 year warranty due to this issue. While it has been a few years since this was done, call NIkon and see if they still offer to fix this issue free.

Try removing the lens & put it back on…

Take off the lens and turn the camera on. If it didn't, the problem is with the camera. Have you tried cleaning the electrical contact in the mount? Sometimes dirty contacts prevent the camera from going on. How long did you charge the battery? Try overnight. Are you sure the battery is charged? You may have to buy a new charger already. If all else fail, bring the camera back to the store you bought it from to have it checked. If you didn't buy it from a store, try your luck with an authorized Nikon service center near you.
