Why is my Nikon D3100 videos on IMoive lagging?

When I imported my clips to iMovie, it has a little "24" at the bottom and that clip from that camera video is very laggy. It only happens with the video from my Nikon.

Two questions. You're shooting in HD correct?
How old is your computer?
Older, slower computers can't handle HD video. The same thing happens to lots of people who upgrade their cameras but not their older computers.
