Videos that I filmed are choppy and lagging on my laptop

I'm not tech savvy at all… But I have a project due next week and I had to film.
I filmed on my friends camera, Nikon d3100, that's all I know.

And I just uploaded the videos to my laptop today because I have to edit them and every time I play any of the videos it just lags and gets choppy. The files are.mov if that has to do with anything.

Help cause I seriously need to do this project.
