Why does my nikon d60 keep sticking on auto (with flash on)?

Lately when i'm using my nikon d60 on auto mode and auto focus with the flash on it keeps sticking it won't take the photo and it won't auto focus, i need the auto focus as i have a lil problem with my sight, nothing major just my eyes can't focus properly when looking threw a screen so the auto focus sorts that for me i want to know why it keeps sticking and what can i do to sort it out as i have a christening shoot tomorrow

You are probably shooting in an area too dark for your auto-focus to work properly.
Your camera will NOT let you take a photo that is out of focus.
* you can shoot in the manual focus mode and use the electronic rangefinder in your cameras view finder
* turn on the "focus assist light" on your camera.
Shooting a dSLR in the "auto everything mode" makes it nothing more than a high-end P&S camera.
Start learning how to use it as a real camera, with you in control of that aperture, shutter speeds, ISO, white balance and other features on your fine camera
