Nikon D5000 camera kid with 18-55 lens problem sticking?

When I twist the lense it gets stuck a little. With a little more effort it continues to twist… What has happened to it?

You could have knock the lens and bent it a tiny fraction!
Or you could have got some grit in to lens barrel!
Have you taken the camera to the beach with that lens attached?

I have this camera and lens, it has manual focus and auto focus switch on the lens. Do you have the same trouble whilst in auto mode?
