Which nikon camera shoots better video quality?

I'm currently deciding to buy Nikon d3100, Nikon d90 or the nikon d5000.

I mostly want it for shooting video but also the image quality is important.

Which one is better, any recommendations?

The D90 and D5000 are older models that have been replaced by the D7000 and D5100, respectively. The D3100 is probably your best bet. But if you'll mainly be recording video, you should consider buying a good-quality HD camcorder, such as a Canon Vixia. I bet you didn't know this, but DSLRs can only record video for about 15 before they shut off - If they could record any longer, the sensor would overheat and die.

The Nikon D3100 is the only one that shoots 1080p, the other two only shoot 720p, so the D3100 should be your choice.

Nikons like D7000 and D3100 takes decent videos but sadly it still can't exceed Canon when it comes to video as nikon doesn't have a camcorder line like canon do. If you're really into video you should consider canon's offerings like the T2i

Nikon d90 has more 5 stars at amazon than other two cameras. So go for it

The Nikon D5100 brings the high quality 16.2 megapixel sensor, great low-light performance, and full HD video capability with all the frame rate options from the popular pro-sumer D7000 to the enthusiast level model - and then includes a fully adjustable side-mounted rotating screen to boot. The D5100 should prove to be an excellent option for new dSLR users plus those experienced enthusiasts wishing to upgrade their D50, D60, or even their D3000 to gain additional megapixels, shooting and processing speed, video, and an improved rear LCD screen.
