Which DSLR is best for me?

Hey i'm looking for a little bit of advise from anyone willing to lend me a hand… I'm looking at buying my first dslr within the next month (although i have had a little experience with them in the past) and have been searching for a long time for one that i think i'm interested in… I have narrowed it down to 2 and was wondering if you could help me decide between the Nikon D5000 or the Nikon D3100 or possibly the Canon EOS 550D? Any help is greatly appreciated:-) thanks

Of those mentioned, the D3100 may have the most features at the best price.

I like them both. I've used them both but my personal preference is the Canon. The lenses and the image stabilization on the Canon seemed to be just a bit better than the Nikon. I have to admit that it may simply be my own biases operating there.
They are both good cameras so one isn't significantly better than the other.
I would suggest you go to a store that carries both and pick them up, see where the common controls are located, and see how the cameras fit your hands. I know they won't let you wander about with them but at least see how intuitive the controls feel in your hands. Let that be your guide. A Digital SLR isn't a trivial investment and you are going to be using this for a long while. You might as well gets something that feels good!
