Which Digital SLR Camera is Best for me? - 1

Jacob
Jacob

Budget: $500.00 USD
I'm looking at one of the Nikon D series like the D40 or D3000 but i'm not picky just trying to give you an idea. The main things i'm looking for is good low light shooting, good sports shots, and the ability to take multiple photos a second.
Thanks Alot!
Also if you have suggestions on what kind of lenses, flashes, or other attatchments would go well with your pick of camera that would be helpful also.

Another great web site for comparison-shopping is dpreview.com (http://www.dpreview.com/)

You could get a Canon EOS Rebel XS for about ~$500.

that would be in your budget and usually comes with a 18mm - 55mm IS lens (good starting lens).

You also have the option of getting the older D40 (refurbished for $400) or D3000 (roughly same price as Canon EOS Rebel XS). They also come with a Nikon 18mm - 55mm VR lens. (make sure you are getting the newer VR version, not the older non-VR version). Nikon kit lenses are usually better than their canon counterparts.

For Nikon, the Nikon Speedlight SB - 400 is all you need. Cost about $100.

I don't know much about flashes on Canon's side.

The best shots per second, sports shooting, and low light are expensive, full frame cameras, such as the Nikon D3. That camera is well out of your budget. These are the best camera's in your price range. The more expensive Nikon D3100, D5000, Canon T1i and T2i are also good cameras, but come in the $600 - $800 price range.
