Which camera has image stabilization built in the body?

Trying to decide between the Canon T3i and Nikon D5100. Someone told me Canon had it built in and I wanted to make sure. Would appreciate help in choosing the two. Just really care about which camera has the most potential in the long run, not which is comfortable for me.

Neither, they have IS (Canon - image stabilization) or VR (Nikon - vibration reduction) built into the lens. Only Sony has it built into the body.

Neither.

Image stabilization housed in specific lenses provides for better stabilization because it is matched to the specific lens.

Placing that feature in the camera is a shotgun approach with hope that most of the time, camera movement will not blur the images. Stabilization works best when using lenses longer than 100 mm and even then it it not used that much by experienced shooters

Sony and Pentax have their versions of image stabilization in the camera body. With either one any lens used becomes a stabilized lens. With Sony and Pentax you only pay for image stabilization once - when you buy the camera.

Canon and Nikon have their versions of image stabilization in some but not all of their lenses. With Canon and Nikon you pay for the image stabilization over and over - every time you buy a stabilized lens.

Both Nikon and Canon have image stabilization built in the lens of DSLRS, but into the body of their compact cameras.

Sony and other manufacturers hve image stabilization built into the body of all of their DSLR cameras.

You have to ask then, why does Nikon and Canon use in-body stabilization in their compact cameras, and in-lens stabilization in their DSLRS? The answer is - in-lens stabilization is better.

Sony and other manufacturers on the other hand, have cheapened out and use compact camera technology in their DSLRs.

Something to think about.
