What would be a good lens for Nikon D7000?

Jigar11

I wanted to get the body and the lens separately so I did. I'm looking for a lens that allows me to take pictures of children, occasional travel and need the ability to take quick pictures and want to use features such as image stabilization or background blur or built in motor.

I have heard that kit lens that comes with D7000 is really bad, so just wanted to get something separately without spending a lot.

Any suggestions?

Any place where I can find Chronology of Nikon lens releases?

The best single lens solution may be the AF-S 18-200 mm VR.

The kit lens is NOT really bad, in fact NO lens made currently by Nikon or Canon are really bad in fact they are better than many other lens makers.

Here is a link to all the current lenses made by Nikon with their costs.

Here is a link to a little video made using the D7000 with a list of four lenses used to make it.

Pity. I love my kit lens. Although the first link isn't Nikon, you can gain information on how to look at lenses. The second link is to an online store that offers current Nikon lens models. You can change the settings on the left to include non-Nikon brands.

You have a few choices…

-AFS Nikkor 18-200mm lens will let you take pictures of nearly everything as it has a very big zoom range, but it's not the best in low light

-AFS Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 has a fairly "average" zoom range but it's much better in low light than the 18-200mm lens.

-AFS Nikkor 16-85mm is similar to the 18-105mm kit lens, but is both wider and shorter. It also features somewhat better image quality, though probably not enough to warrant its significantly higher price. Both the 16-85 and 18-105mm are not as good in low light as the 17-55mm lens, but given the D7000's fantastic high ISO performance it shouldn't matter too much.
