What tripod is good for a dslr camera?
I have a Nikon d7000 and I was wondering what tripod would be good for it. I don't know anything about tripods at all. The most I'm willing to spend is $250. Any suggestions?
Plenty of good ones out there. Manfrotto is a great brand. I would look it up on B&H Photo's website and look at your choices.
That would depend on how you plan to use it. Video? Could be several hundred with a fluid head…
the kind I used to use shooting for television.
Steady video shots, lock down roll, move, lock down roll. Or just time exposure stills? What's your
fancy?
Look around for what meets you needs. I agree B&H is an excellent place to start.
Depends on what type of photography you will be doing. I have a vintage Tiltall Professional (it is older than you are) that works great for stills with my D200 and with video cameras as well. Check out B&H for prices - it is well within your cost limitations.
There are for sure more expensive, lighter weigh tripods out there. And you can spend more than your budget just on a ball head.
Don't buy flimsy and cheap as the purpose of a tripod is to hold things steady.
I use the Monfrotto 190XDB legs with 390rc2 pan/tilt head (replaced by the 391rc2)
If you're looking for something nice and stable, I would go with Manfrotto for the price. The 190 series legs and classic heads work well together you can get a nice combination for $250.
