Not surprising since the d3100 is the entry level and the d7000 is the enthousiast amateur cam
Nikon d7000 is BETTER. It's the most amazing prosumer camera ever, I just got it for Christmas and love everything about it. It's also about 3 times as much in cost but totally worth it
D7000 ha a better viewfinder [ bigger and brighter ], better af sistem [ faster and with more af point ], built in af motor, double command dial, double display etc etc
The D7000 can meter with older manual focus AI lens, built in Auto focus motor, Multiple exposure, dual SD card slots
