What's gonna be a good upgrade dslr for my 2nd camera?

I've been using an old Canon for like 10 years and it's just taking too many pictures. I have mo equipment for canon and since I'm getting a new body and starting to get serious about photography, what would be a good 2nd body in terms of Canon and Nikon? I'm looking at the 60d and the d90 or d7000. (Something midrange with a bigger body) I don't care for video at all and I feel Nikon is better for me and what I'm doing. I don't wanna spend that much either. I'm planning on picking up a 35/50mm 1.4

If you've already got Canon accessories it makes no sense to switch systems to Nikon and have to buy all that equipment all over again.

The 60D is a fine camera no doubt. So are the Rebel models in the t2i, t3i range so that call is up to you. Yes the 60 is a larger size body but why do you need a larger body… Large hands?

Some food for thought.

The Nikon D7000 is the current transition camera when comparing various Nikon bodies.

The three current next generation Nikon bodies include the Nikon D3200, D800 and D4. Those three cameras use advanced metering and auto-focusing systems, which will be showing up in the next year or so as the replacements for the Nikon D300/D300s, D7000 and D5100.

Spend some time reading about the cameras by first visiting the cameras websites. Next with that information, visit a proper camera shop and compare them in your hands.

You may want to reconsider the 35 mm lens. Of all the lenses I least used when using 35 mm SLR cameras was the "normal" 50 mm which is what the 35 mm lens on one of the APS-C cameras you mentioned

So you're just getting a new body because the old one is er… Old? Get the 60D so you can use the old lens with it too. You won't regret it.

I'm a Nikon user but I have to agree with Jim A - if you've got Canon accessories and lenses it makes sense to stick with Canon. A newer Canon will also have a more similar layout of menus and buttons that you have become used to. There's no single "killer" feature which makes a Canon camera better than a Nikon one or vice versa.

What is it you are doing and what makes you think that Nikon would be better for it?
