What lens is good for a night club (nikon d80)?

I have a nikon d80 with a nikon 70-300mm ED.am just wondering if the lens will work well in a night club.

Is that the 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 IF-ED VR? In which case it's a pretty good lens, and you should think about a flashgun (SB-800 or SB-900) and Gary Fong lightsphere or Omnibounce instead.

If you want to go without flash then these lenses might help, but your D80 isn't really the greatest low light performer.
