What is the difference between 1080p and 720p?
I'm thinking about buying a camera and I'm debating on two; the Nikon D3100, which has 1080p HD Video option and the Nikon D5000 which has the 720p as the best HD option. Yet the D5000 has a flip out screen so I can capture better angles.
***I was wondering if they is a major difference if played on an HD TV, normal TV, and computer screen?
You're giving up 360p for better angles. It's up to you. The 3100 shoots a better picture.
1080p - 720p = 360p
1080p is better than 720p, period. 1080p there a more pixels per sq.cm than in 720p and therefore, 1080p provides better quality. If your computer has a HD screen the 1080p will provide much better quality than the 720p. On a regular TV (720p) there would be no difference since the 1080p will downgrade to 720p. However the difference will be obvious on a HD TV, especially on larger screen or from far away.
