What happens if a translucent mirror got dust on it?
My roomate is a seasoned Nikon D7000 user and yesterday he cleaned his sensor becaude it has lots of dust on it. I'm a relatively new Sony SLT A77 user and I wonder what should I do if there are dust on my translucent mirror in the future? Should I clean it just like cleaning sensors?
What neither of you know is that the D7000 has a feature that automatically cleans the sensor each time the camera is turned on and off. Have him look on page 284 in the user manual.
Hopefully you did NOT touch his sensor
The translucent mirrors are a new wrinkle, so you will have to talk to Sony and ask them for help
I would use a bit of common sense and gently blow the dust off the mirror with a hand powered blower.

Yeah you can clean it for dust using a hand blower or a sensor brush or any way similar to cleaning a real sensor. The translucent mirror can have dust on it in the future.
- On my Nikon D5300, i saw a dust spot I clean the sensor and mirror. It did not go away?
- What is the merely translucent dried red liquid in my camera lense?
- What happens when you put a cheap lens on a expensive body?
- What happens if you take a photo without a lens?
- Will Nikon service my lens even though the problem only happens once in a while?
