What do I need to buy for my nikon d5100?

I just want to know what things can I buy for it. I need a shutter remote, don't know if I can make it with some sort of accessory waterproof. And where could I get a good telephoto lens. Also for shooting pretty small things where can I get a good macro lens?

Shutter release cable:

to make it completely waterproof, you will need a waterproof case, which will be in the thousands of dollars

your basic telephoto lens to complement your 18-55mm

I'm assuming you have the essentials - standard zoom, strap, battery and charger.
If so, it's better just to explore the capabilities of what you have, and it'll give you time to save up for the things you'll find out that you need.

Adorama, bh photo and video, amazon are all good places to buy gear from. Wireless shutter releases are generally cheap for Nikon. If its just the shutter release you want to make waterproof, put it in a ziplock bag. It's a trick I learned from another great photographer. It also makes it easier to find the remote if you throw it (for a self portrait, not out of anger). Tamron makes a nice macro lens for $450-500.It is a 90mm. There are a few telephoto options from Nikon at reasonable prices and quality.
