What do I need for my camera?

I just purchased a Nikon D3100. I also have a case, bag, and neck strap. I will be investing in a few lenses too. I'm interested in investing in macro shots of flowers, bugs and such. I'm also going to need a lense that I can get quality, distance photos of nature and animals. Finally, I will be photographing children.
If y'all could give me some recommendations that would be great!

Until you learn to use your camera intuitively, you may want to hold off buying any lenses.
The 18-55 mm lens will allow you to shoot landscapes, groups, full body and head and shoulder shots
If later you find you need a wider angle zoom, look at the AF-S 10-24 mm
If instead, you want something for shooting wildlife, sports and action, the AF-S 70-300 mm may be just the lens you need
The macro lens you need to shoot bugs, is probably the AF-S 60 mm f/2.8 lens

And here is a link that shows you what each lens "sees"

A uv filter will help protect your lens. Other filters are great to have as well. A tripod would be great as well for those long exposures. Other than that you have the basics.

If you don't have a memory card yet, buy one. Buy a good book about basic photography before you buy anything else.
