The biggest you can get is a 64GB, but that's Way too much, I recommend a 4GB SD card.

I have seen a 320 GB sd card
But you would be better with multiple 4GB or 8GB cards, as they can fail, and you woul lose everything

Get a handful of 1-2GB cards and use those. You are far better off filling a 2GB card and replacing it with a second and a third than you are carrying a 16GB and risking losing all of your work.

A couple of 4 gb cards will allow you to shoot more than enough shots for one party. Usually 250 shots are enough for a single party, but you will be able to shoot at least 400 with two cards that size

The thing about using two cards instead of one 8 gb card is 1) you can back up all the images to a DVD without needed to do any post production and 2) you will not be tempted to leave all the image files on your card for days on end.

What you need to do is copy all the image files to your computer as soon as you get home and once they are safely on the computer, format the cards using the format feature on the camera

If you're taking RAW image files, and I'm assuming that you will be since it's a 300D and it'd be a waste not to. I recommend nothing less than 8gb. DSLR cameras do produce larger image sizes (even at jpg+lower resolutions) and while for the party alone you won't need 8gb, you may not be able to immediately empty the card before something else for you to shoot pops up. Better to be prepared.

I have a D5100 and a 16gb SDHC, 2 Class 10 8gbs, and a 4gb SD card.

You don't want to carry all on one card. If the card malfunctions or gets damaged, you've lost everything. The largest card I carry is 8gb. I would never carry anything larger than 16. If I lose a card to the elements or something, I haven't lost all of the unprocessed work.

You want between two and four 4GB CF cards it's far more secure this way as you have redundancy, make sure you swap them regularly so that you get a selection of shots from different areas of the party. You want them to have transfer rates of around 60MBPS (something like Sandisk Extreme).

Hunt around for a good deal on sd cards and get yourself one or two 16G cards.

Don't make the error of taking very low quality images only. The best idea is to plan your photo shoot and decided how you will get your shots and which ones can be low quality and which ones absolutely need to be hi res. To save time by having two cameras, one set on low light low settings and the other one for hi res flash or in well lit circumstances. If you are taking a lighting kit you could put up a photo booth for studio type photos.

Depends on the size of the files and how many you intend to take and what kind of file you are creating… RAW will probably be bigger than JPEG's and RAW+JPEG takes up more… So about 200-300 per 4Gb

multiple 4Gb cards would be a good idea… And if anything goes wrong with one card, you won't lose everything…
