What are some great lenses for a nikon d3100?

I'm new at photography and I have a nikon d3100 I'm wondering what lenses I should purchase next. I mostly do children and portraits but am still interested in doing more. My camera came with the 18-55mm lens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For portraits, you really can't beat this:

it is an excellent lens for portraits, as well as a normal, walk-a-round lens.

If you like landscapes, look for a super-wide lens, like the Tokina 12-24mm or Nikon 10-24mm. The newer Tokina has a built in motor will work on your camera, as does the Nikon

The 35mm f1.8G is a great walking-around lens, and the 50mm f1.4 G would be a great portrait lens. I

The 55-200mm and 55-300mm DX lenses are superb telephoto lenses for cheap.

If you are into macro, look at either the 105mm f2.8, 85mm f3.5VR, or 60mm f2.8.
