What are good lenses for Nikon D3000?

I have the normal size lense for my nikon that it came with… And i want to get a better zooming one… I want to be able to take good pictures of portraits but also sports like wrestling and softball. I'm not too smart about the lenses so i need it broken down to simple terms please I also don't know about being able to use other lenses besides nikons and what not. Are they all the same sizes and fit right? Orrr?

For indoor sports your best option would be the 70-200 f/2.8

Nikon 55-200mm, 55-300mm and 70-300mm are your best options, from $200 to $600.

But you need to understand it's hard to shoot in low light with lenses like these, you'd need to spend around $1500 to get a f/2.8 zoom which captures more light. But with a little bit of practice and skills, you could pull it off fine.
