I'm a beginner and i recently got the D1500.
Any tips?
Also how do you get the camera to focus and blur the background?
I know its a newer camera so there isn't much out there about it yet but if you have anything let me know.

For the best way to blur a background, it is best to get a f2.8 or f1.8 aperture. This will help. Also putting it in the Portrait mode or setting it to "A" on your camera. And making sure it is to the 3.5 if you have the standard 18-55 lens.

Now your camera has 14 megapixil and you should use all of them. Make sure you get a class 6 or higher memory card. This will help keep your camera going up to speed. NEVER BUY THE $10 cards, they are usually class two and will slow your camera to a point and shoot.

To give an idea
A class 6 Promaster card should run you about $24.99

Be careful with the movie it will eat your battery up.

The "P" and Guide mode are your friends. You can see what the camera sets things too and learn for it.

Enjoy your camera
