Thinking about ugrading my camera?

Right now I have the Nikon d3000. I was thinking about getting the new Nikon d3100. I was wondering if there was really that much of a difference and if it would be worth it or if I should just buy a new lens for my current camera.

Buy a high quality lens. Probably a better use of your money.

Essentially the same camera…
you should only upgrade - if you know what you are doing to something that can only benefit you…
and the 3100 would only make you poorer and not improve your photography… How about learning to use your 3000 properly…

Put the money into a second lens, an accessory flash like the SB-600 and the Magis Lantern Guide for your D3000. And keep shooting!

The difference isn't large enough to do the upgrade photography-wise, imo (video upgrade mostly). I would say that with the money you save from not buying the d3100 you could buy photography books, take a class, and/or take a road trip somewhere and take some awesome photos. You already have a dSLR so you don't need anything better in terms of photographic utility. You have full control over your photos. I don't know if you just have the lens that came with it, but a lens upgrade may be the same is upgrading the camera (it won't help you take better pictures).
Just my two cents.
- Thinking about buying a camera.suggestions?
- I'm thinking of buying camera or laptop?
- I'm thinking of buying used digital SLR camera, Nikon D80 with kit lens 18-135mm AF-S?
- Thinking about getting a great camera for photography?
- What DSLR camera should an amateur get? I'm thinking along the lines of the Nikon D60?
