So I want a Nikon D3000 because I want to get into photography. Right now I have a Sony cyber-shot its an okay camera i guess. But I want a good camera that I can use for photography doesn't cost too much. Can anyone tell recommended a good photography camera or give their thoughts on the Nikon D3000?

The D3000 is great, around 3 years old but a DSLR is a DSLR. You also have Canon EOS XS and T3.

The XS has Live View, but D3000 has higher maximum ISO and 2 more AF points.

All will have great image quality and it won't matter if it's Canon, Nikon or any other brand.

I own the Rebel XS and it's a fine camera so you might want to consider it as well. The t3 is the XS upgrade and also does 720 HD video so that's a thought for you as well. In any case either would be a fine choice.

Breathtaking digital SLR image quality and easy operation highlight the 10.2-megapixel D3000--Nikon's friendliest DSLR ever. Compact and capable, the D3000 is compatible with a broad range of world-famous Nikkor lenses and includes the versatile 3x, 18-55mm Zoom-Nikkor with Silent-Wave Motor autofocusing and Nikon VR image stabilization to combat picture blur caused by camera shake for sharper handheld pictures. Special moments are captured faithfully at up to 3 frames-per-second and displayed on a bright, 3-inch LCD monitor.
