Only if the lens has a Nikon mount. Beware, Tamron makes lenses for Canon, Pentax and Sony too all with different mounts.

Get the Tamron with "for Nikon" mark. But of course, ask the dealer and bring your D5000 when you buy it and try.

Yes, and no. If you get a Tamron 28-200mm with a Nikon F-mount, it will mount, meter, and manually focus with your D5000. If you get the latest version with the built-in autofocus motor, it will also autofocus.
