Is Tamron A17 and Tamron A17NII are same Lenses for Nikon DSLRs?

I want to buy a 70-300 tellifocal lens for my Nikon D40X DSLR and I'm confused in these 2 lenses!
Are they Same or Different?
Nikon Original lenses are expensive so suggest me other lenses of same focal length except of Nikon!

One is probably motorised, while the other isn't - your D40 needs a lens with a built-in motor if you want autofocus.
I suggest you check the Tamron website, and search google for reviews.

On Tamron lenses, the NII designation means that you'll find the autofocus motor in the lens for perfect compatibility with your D40.

If the excellent Nikon 70-300mm AF-S VR is too expensive, consider the recently released Nikon 55-300mm AF-S VR.

I bought the A17 for my Nikon D90. After giving it a fair trial, I have set it aside in my junk pile. Save up for the Nikon glass, or do some research to find a less expensive but quality glass.
