Storing a DSLR in Korea?

Hi

I'm going to Korea on my holiday, and I'm taking my DSLR (Nikon D3100). I don't plan on using it in Korea (I'll be using it in my next destination), but am concerned about it being stored in my suitcase esp. With the freezing temperatures. I've read a few websites, and most of them are just about using it outside then bringing it back in, whereas I'm going to not use mine at all.

Are there any steps I can take to ensure that it won't die whilst being in my suitcase. I have no idea how the temperature inside my suitcase will be so will simply putting it in a zip lock bag and into its bag alright?

1) for Long term storage (i.e. 6 months plus)
- you need to worry about humidity and prehaps consider a double ziplock bag and some silica gels or a drybox.

2) for freezing weather
- worry about your battery. It will deplete your battery and you may not have enough battery life in your 'next location'. I suggest removing the battery and charging it before you intend to use it. You can also keep it warm by keeping hte battery close to your body (i.e.taking advantage of your body temperture.)
- also consider dramatic changes to temperture… I.e. Outside freezing temperture to indoor central heated. Keep your camera in a ziplog bag and let it acalamate to the ambient temperture before taking out the camera.

3) enjoy your holiday.
