Nikon SLR Cameras

Should I wait for the Nikon D3100?

Or is there another camera from Canon that is comparable? Is the Rebel T2i a better choice (not looking at price)? I know that they both record the same quality video, but the T2i has external mic input for example.

Also when is the exact release date of the D3100?

Added (1). Does the T2i have autofocus when shooting video?

If your mainly going to shoot video, I recommend the T2i. Canon is better at intergrating video into their systems better than Nikon. The T2i has AF when shooting video.

In my opinion you should wait. First stocks should be in the shops end of next week. The D3100 is certainly interesting since it has a good video feature set at a very attractive price.

I used Rebel t2i. It has a great picture quality both still image and video. It was good for sound taking with a good quality mic when i made a documentary. So, for personal work (making short film or documentary) T2i is best as it has external mic input option.

For photography and optional general video (where sound is not a matter like family work) D3100 would be great because of it will save you buks. With the savings you will be able to buy extra gear or even good LENS.

So, reconsider your purpose.
