Shotgun Mic for Nikon D7000?

So I'm looking for a shotgun mic for my nikon, since I'm going to be doing an independent film study. I was curious if anyone had a recommendation, keeping it in the 100-300ish price range.

Nikon has released their ME-1 Stereo Microphone when it released the Nikon D5100.

I suggest you buy a XLR to 3.5mm adapter and buy a real shotgun mic designed for professional video. I hooked a Sennheiser shotgun mic to my D300s for project work. The quality beats out anything a 3.5mm jacked mic will produce. Not to mention the superior interference control of XLR cables and the lengths one can extend them to without loosing quality.

If that sounds too expensive, go with the Sennheiser MKE 400. Its a high quality shotgun for small cameras.
