Self timer Nikon D5000?

So, I've set my timer. And I've also set the number of captures I want.
For example, let's say I inserted 5 seconds and 3 image captures.
The timing works perfectly but my camera only take 1 picture, not three, or any other number.
I've tried reading the manual, but I can't find anything helpful.
would any of you know why this keeps happening? Maybe something is wrong in my settings…
any help is appreciated, thank you very much!

What you are attempting to do is called intervally timed image production.

To do that you need an on board interval timer or an external one.

The self-timer does just what it is supposed to do. Once activated, the timer counts down 10 seconds or so and then cause the shutter to go off.

Look on page 76 and 77 for how to use the interval timer

When you are setting the camera for 3 image captures, are you using bracketing?

If so, the way bracketing on Nikons work is that the first depression takes the first photo at the bracketing parameter you set, the second photo at the second bracketing parameter, ant the third photo at the third bracketing parameter.

I have not looked at the D5000 manual but I doubt it has an interval timer. Self timer yes, but not too sure about an interval timer. But I might be wrong as I have not looked in the manual. Just say I would be surprised if it did have one.

According to your Manual (page 157)… When using the self-timer, you can set it to take more than one shot. It also says that if selecting more than 1 shot (which you are trying to do) shots will be taken at 3 second intervals. So, are you actually waiting long enough?
