Put a nikon D7000 in an underwater housing for a nikon D90?
I have noticed that underwater housings for the older nikon D90 are cheaper compared to the housings for the newer Nikon D7000. I own the D7000.
I also noticed that the D90 and D7000 share almost the exact features.
Anyone who knows from experience or has had both cameras please help!
Can i get a Ikelite underwater housing for the D90 but put a D7000 in it?
I just need basic buttons like shutter release.
I'd get the casing that was made for the camera.
According to basic specs the D90 is slightly smaller than the D7000 and Ikelite shows 2 different part numbers (the cases are different and there's only a $100 difference between both)… So, I would say "try it at your own risk". For a $100 difference, I would get the one made for my camera.

If you own a car that the manufacturer says needs 5W-30 oil would you put 10W-40 oil in it and risk damaging the engine or adversely affecting its performance? Probably not. So buy the Ikelite underwater housing designed for your Nikon D7000 and avoid risking damage to your camera. How foolish would you feel if trying to save a hundred bucks or so ended up destroying your camera?
It seems hard to convince someone who's hellbent on getting a bargain so to make things easier, bring your camera to the store and test the case there.
