Photography help! I have a nikon 35mm camera, and a nikon D3000?
I love the way my pictures come out when i use the 35mm lens on the 35mm film nikon camera, and i'd like to use it on my Nikon D3000 DSLR. I've tried just taking the lens and putting it on my D3000 DSLR but it says no lens attached when it clearly is. The lens fits and even locks in place, but i guess my digital dslr doesn't recognize it. Is there any adapters i can use or something so i can use my nikon 35mm lens on my nikon D3000 DSLR? Please and thank you!
Yes you just need to set your D3000 on Manual and fire away. You won't be able to shoot in Program or any other modes because the shutter locks up.
From the Nikon D3000 web page>>.
Non-CPU lenses may only be used when the camera is in mode M. Selecting another mode disables the shutter release. Aperture must be adjusted manually via the lens aperture ring and the camera metering system, i-TTL flash control, and other features requiring a CPU lens can't be used.
Keep in mind that with the DX sensor on the D3000 your 35mm lens is going to be a 52mm lens. The sensor is a 1.5 aspect ratio so the lens focal length is changed as well.
For example, a 70-300mm lens becomes a 105 to 450 mm lens.
This becomes an issue when shooting with wide angle lenses more than with telephoto lenses
