Non dslr camera with highest image quality?

I'm still trying to pick out my next camera. I was leaning towards a DSLR, Nikon D3100 specifically, but after using one for a few hours I realized that I feel extremely limited by the lack of zoom without a telephoto lens. Even if I were to invest in one, I think that always having to change lenses would annoy me and take away spontaneous photo ops in nature.
Perhaps I'm asking for something impossible, but do any of the following exist?
1.a dslr camera with incorporated telephoto capacity
OR
2.a non dslr camera with superior image quality, large sensor, powerful zoom, macro capacity?
I mostly shoot nature and landscapes, and also do some sports photography.

Bottom line, I would like some creative control (not point and shoot) but excellent image quality. But without having to change lenses. Is there the best of both worlds?
I would appreciate advice or sharing of your experiences!
Thank you

You may be happy with the abilities and image quality of a Nikon p100, But, I'm guessing you won't be happy long term with the limitations and lack of quality compared to the d3100. Just get an 18-105 lens for the nature and landscape shots, and a 70-200 for the sports.

If you want to stay with Nikon you can get a DSLR body only and a Nikkor 18-200mm lens.once on your set.

There are two ways to go.

One is to get a 'superzoom', a camera with a lot of zoom in the lens like Nikon P90 or Canon SX10 (models change quickly and I'm not sure these are the latest models. Check the websites of Nikon and Canon). Some of these cameras have like a 20x zoom, plus lots of other nice features.

The other is to get a top-of-the-line non SLR like Nikon p7000.
