What Nikon lens takes the highest quality pictures for landscape shots?

The 14-24

I use the Nikkor 12-24 mm when shooting landscapes, but the quality of the images have all to do with your skills using the camera.
Here is a shot that was published in about 2004, shot with a 6 mp Nikon D100.It has been reduced in size and resolution for posting on Photo Bucket, but the image was used across two pages ("double truck")

Depends on your style of photography. I've been working with telephoto lenses in my landscape work more and more, but traditionally you need a wide angle lens.
You have also neglected to mention what camera body you will be using on:
DX format:
AF-S Nikkor 10-24mm f3.5-4.5G DX
AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f4G VR
FX format:
AI-Nikkor 13mm f5.6 (if you have £30, 000) or on a more modest budget the AF-S 14mm f2.8 or AF 20mm f2.8D. I prefer primes in this situation, it's only in DX format no UW primes exist.
AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f4G VR

Depends what sort of landscapes you like shooting. Most people go for a wide-angle shot, but perversely I go for long lenses to pick out small portions of landscapes.
