Nikon software similar to Canon?

Linda

I always had trouble with shooting video with my Nikon D3100, because I can't see myself while recording. I found out that Canon users get a software that allows them to see what's on the camera screen on the computer screen, and they can focus over the computer and all that stuff.
So I wanted to know is there any similar software for Nikon?

Added (1). No, you don't understand what I mean. Canon users get this CD with their camera.watch this video.

You seem to be confusing "software" with tethering.

Some Nikon and Canon dSLR's can be tethered to a computer so that the image the camera sees is also seen on the computers screen.

Is there a compelling reason to spend some rather large dollars to be able to see yourself as you are recording video?

This is what you need to do that.

The function of the software you're talking about is called tethering. Nikon does not supply any software that does this.

Have you tried Live View? See page 37 of your manual.
