Nikon, Pentax, or Cannon?
I personally have a Nikon D7000, but not because I prefer Nikon over the other brands, it's just what my Dad bought and I now have, and I've learnt on it so am familiar with it compared to any other brands. As I said, I'm not specifically supporting Nikon as a favourite, I just have one of their cameras.
But tell me, do you prefer Nikon or Cannon or Pentax, and then tell me why? I mean, all three produce high quality DSLR Cameras, so why is there so much rivalry?
It can't be that fierce, you still can't spell, 'Canon.'
Fords & Chevy's, it's all a matter of choice.
I like Nikons myself. And you should be very happy to own the D7000!
Cannons don't take pictures because Cannons go BOOM

A huge difference between the two.
Only you can answer this because you would be getting so many different answers.
This type of question gets asked about which Camera Manufacture, Camera Model is better, recommended, or "Which One I Should Get" far too often.
It comes down to personal preference where some may like how Nikon feels in their hands or how the layout of the Nikon Cameras are. Vice Verse on Pentax and Canon Cameras.
Nikon fans would be saying to get Nikon. Same thing with Canon or Pentax Fans where they would be saying to get Canon or Pentax
So otherwise it all comes down to personal preference.
You have a Nikon D7000. Why would you be concerned with another brand? Get out there and enjoy your D7000.
There's intense rivalry between Canon and Nikon. Canon is the leading brand. Nikon is preferred by most pros.
Pentax does not care. The company is struggling to survive and their loyal followers are too busy shooting photos.
What do I prefer? Pentax of course. Why? Very bright viewfinders, all my old lenses are compatible to the new dSLR's, controls on the dSLR makes sense to me, and the new dSLR's allow me to shoot exactly the same way I did with my old manual film SLR's.
Most "serious" photographers stick to the brand they originally started out with and are fanatically loyal. I started out with Pentax but switched to Canon (can't remember why!) many years ago. I've had lots of Canon compacts and dslr both in film and digital.
I know that Nikon are just as good but I can't ever imagine myself buying one. IF I ever stopped using Canon, I would go back to Pentax.
