Nikon Nikkor 18-55mm VR Lens FOCUS RING IS LOOSE
I got a Nikon D5000 and recently my 18-55mm lenses focus ring has gotten randomly loose. It is not loose all around, it feels like it loose on 1 axis, in wobble not in a 360, but simple side to side. And it's making me really angry. Does anyone have any knowledge of how to fix this?
I just checked my focusing rings, they do have some slack in them because they have a M/A to M switch. In the M/A mode, you can still move the lens without damaging the motor in the lens.
There's NO reason to get mad about it.
Give Nikon a call and ask them about it.
All AF lenses are a bit loose int he focal ring. The 18-55 isn't the greatest build anyway. So, either replace it by a new one or stop worrying about details and use the lens for photography.
The 18-55 kit lens focus ring is loose. It's almost impossible to manual focus with that lens due to the wobbly focus ring. No fix. Just have fun shooting. The lens works fine in auto focus mode.
