Nikkor 18-55 Focus ring loose?
I just bought a nikon D5100 with thekit 18-55mm lens. Less than two months later, the focus ring is loose. I didn't do anything to it, I've taken great care of all my Equipment. Nevertheless, the focus ring wobbles side to side. I've read this is a common problem with cheap lenses. Okay, not a big problem. What's really bothering me, is when I try to turn the focus ring all the way to the right, it gets stiff until I can't turn it anymore. So I couldn't get sharp pictures of the moon because it wouldn't focus on it (or other distant objects). It even messes up the auto focus. Is this also a common problem? Hopefully my warranty will cover it.
It is under warranty.
This is a very uncommon problem, in fact you are the first to comment about it
Call Nikon and they will tell you how to return it for repair
So you are saying that with the lens in manual, you can't focus at infinity so you can shoot the moon?
