Nikon d70 screen says 243 and won't work. Any idea what that means?

That is a strange error code.

Look in your user manual and see if that code is listed.

If not, call Nikon and ask them.

Check that screen again. Does it say CHR or Fee? CHR means your memory card is going bad and needs to be replaced. Fee tells you that you need to rotate the aperture ring of your lens to f22 and lock the aperture with the switch on the lens.

At least, those were the two error messages I'd encountered with my D70.
