Nikon D5000 and Tamron AF18-200mm F3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD?

I'm having Nikon D5000 with kit lens Nikor 18-55. I'm planning to buy higher lens zoom. I have short listed Tamron AF18-200mm F3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD. My question is whether it will fit on NikonD5000 body? Wheather it will produce good images with D5000 body. Please advice.

The Tamron 18-200 is nice if you want a cheap 'walk around' lens but don't expect stellar quality. A good upgrade lens over the kit one is the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4. Its gives a little more wide and a little more length than the kit zoom and is better optically. It's still not pro-grade but for the money it's a fair upgrade.

It will fit, it will produce poor quality images.
Nikon makes a fine 18-200, look at that. Or be realistic and go for a 18-105. Lot of range, optically decent and 1/3 of the price of an 18-200.
