Nikon D40X vs Nikon D3000?

I would like to sell my Nikon D40X and buy a Nikon D3000. I think they are almost the same.
I'm especially interested in the warranty, because the older D40X doesn't have warranty, so I can't rely on it.

I have a question, is the D3000 as good as a D40X? I mean the quality. When I bought the D40X it was more expensive than todays D3000.

D3000 will definitely have a better quality, as progress goes up up so the technologies, so the quality of pictures, I would go for it!

You can get brand new one for under 200$ with 2 years factory warranty on Stiwin auction:

Save your money! The D3000 IS a D40x. Same sensor, same speed, with a slightly better auto focus system.

The first real step above a D40x is a new D3100, which has a much better, newer sensor, live view, and video.

Even then, I would suspect that your photography won't improve with a D3100. You might want to invest in a new lens instead of a new body, to expand your creativity. It is wasteful and expensive to get a new camera body every couple of years. However, lenses are current for sometimes decades

Or, you could spend the money on a road trip to somewhere to take photos, or on a photography course. If you take a class, you will see that you still have a perfectly useful camera in your D40x
