Nikon d40 sensor cost?

Jake
I have insurance on my equipment so I'm ot too concerned but I think the sensor is going bad… How much would one cost? Or can they even be replaced?

The best place for that answer is Nikon. Give them a call at 1-800-NIKON-UX (1-800-645-6689… In the USA).
They will be able to tell you the cost of sensor replacement. (For a 5 year old entry level DSLR, I would guesstimate ~$275 + shipping/insurance)

The D40 is quite old. I doubt warranty still covers it. I also doubt you have insurance on it. Call Nikon.
