Nikon D3100 movie mode only ten minutes?

Reading about the Nikon D3100, I found out that you can only record up to ten minutes of video in 1080p. Can you record multiple ten-minute clips, or just ten minutes and you can't record any more?
What if you have an SD card which can hold more?

the reason for the 10 minutes is the fact that the sensor heats up during video recording. If it gets too hot, it will damage the sensor. Once you let the camera cool off, you can shoot another 10 minutes

The 10 minutes limit has nothing to do with sensor heating, that's a fable. It's because the file system of the camera doesn't allow for bigger files.
Since watching a single 10 minute take is about as much fun as watching ESPN I don't see it as a problem just stop and start a second take.
