Nikon d3100, 3fps, is it enough?
I'm an amateur photographer, and I'm buying my first DSLR.
I make different type of photography, including sports.
But, is 3 fps enough for me, or should I spend more money on other cameras that offer faster shooting?
For sports shooting 3fps is not too great obviously, you need something over 6 fps at least, otherwise D3100 is an IDEAL first DSLR. It depends how much of sports shooting do you do.
Why do you think you need more than 3 frames per second? If you plan on shooting machine gun style, there are cameras that will give you 8-10 fps, for a price.
You can get by with 3 fps, once you learn how to use it. Even better, learn how to get the shot you want with a single shot.
Getting good shots of moving subjects isn't a matter of holding a camera's shutter down and "spray and pray". Observe the sport, know where most of the action is going to be (for example in baseball it's gonna be near one of the bases), and learn to capture the moment.
3 fps is good enough. If not, you can pay a lot more for cameras that offer 9 frames per second, such as the Nikon D3s.
Sony A33 will give you 7fps and MUCH faster auto-focus in video than a Nikon D3100.
